Junior Program.
The FVPC Junior Program provides an opportunity for all youth paddlers ages 13 to 18 to join in the rich history of dragon boating and outrigger canoeing in a fun and friendly atmosphere. Participants enjoy camaraderie, physical activity, outdoor adventures and cultural experiences, while developing new skills and new friendships.
Our juniors compete in a number of regattas every year, including the DragonZone Junior Regatta and our own Harrison DragonBoat Regatta. In years past we have also attended the Inlet Springs Regatta in Port Moody and the Vessi 500M Championship in False Creek and the annual Battle of the Paddles that takes place in Harrison Hot Springs.
FVPC is proud to work with great clubs and programs like the Optimist Club to help keep our program affordable to all that attend. With their continued support, along with donations from local businesses, we continue the development of healthy youths in our community.
The Lois Boschman Memorial Bursary Program is also available to all paddlers enlisted in our Junior Paddling Program that meet the criteria. Started in 2014 the Lois Boschman Memorial Bursary Program was launched to honour one of our fallen paddlers. Lois embodied everything that makes dragon boating fun and exciting. She was passionate, commanding and inspirational. All great qualities needed in the sport dragon boat racing.
